Dear Friends of De La Salle- Jersey,
Mr John Sankey KSG (Knight of the Pontifical Order of St. Gregory the Great), died on Sunday afternoon, aged 81.
John Sankey spent his entire career at De La Salle Jersey, initially as a teacher, then Headmaster and finally as a Governor of the College.
John Sankey began his teaching career at De La Salle in 1960. John was appointed as the first lay Headmaster of the College in 1995. Upon his retirement in 2000 he was appointed to the board of Governors where he served in a variety of roles until he left the Island in 2007.
John Sankey was a true servant of the College and has undoubtedly touched the lives of many people in Jersey. John’s funeral will be held in the UK.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday 18th November at St. Thomas’ Church at 7.30pm. Where his life and service will be remembered and honoured.
May I ask that you join me in remembering John and his family in your prayers today.
“God of the living and the dead, you brought Jesus back to life;- raise up the faithfully departed and let us come with them into your heavenly glory. Amen.
Eternal Rest, Grant unto John, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace, Amen.
Live Jesus in our hearts, Forever!”
